Zines 4 Elsie

Short stories, little history zines, and questions about how we choose to survive... for the people who never got to speak

Red Button/Blue Button Zine

Created in May of 2026

During the viral debate of Red Button Blue Button, I began to write this zine because I had more to say than a TikTok comment could hold and because I don't do face-fronting social media anymore. I needed a space to be honest.

I understand why people press Red. It's survival instinct. It's fear. It's the logical move when you're trying to make it to the other side. But here's what kept me up at night: by choosing Red, you are okay with the people who can't press Red dying.

There are people in this world who will never have the choice to hide who they are—because of their bodies, their identities, their beliefs, or their circumstances. They can't vote Red. They can't assimilate. And when Red wins, we are collectively saying their lives don't matter enough to take a risk on.

I wrote this zine to say that choosing Blue isn't naive—it's radical. It says I see you. It says you don't have to shrink to survive. It says even the people pressing Red out of fear are still welcome. Because the world I want to live in isn't one where only the conformists make it through. It's one where we all get to exist, exactly as we are.

I choose Blue. Every time.
